Fr. Fio entered the Society of Jesus 20-06-63, and was ordained priest 05-04-75. He has a degree in Chemistry from Bombay University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Catholic Theological Union, Chicago. He has served as the Director and then Chairman (1981-1987) of the International Council for Catholic Charismatic Renewal (Vatican City). He was also Chairman of the CCR National Service Team in India for several terms. He has pastoral and educational experience as Parish Priest and Rector of Holy Family Church in Andheri (Mumbai), Rector of St. Peter’s Church and St Stanislaus High School, Bandra (Mumbai), and of “Vinayalaya,” a Jesuit Retreat House in Mumbai. Pope Benedict XVI nominated him to be an “expert” at the 2008 Synod of Bishops in Rome on “The word of God in the life of the Church.” He has also served as a resource person at various meetings of the Catholic Conference of the Bishops of India. He was the only Catholic theologian to participate in the World Council of Churches Global Forum, Geneva in 2008. He has visited over 80 countries to preach at Clergy Retreats, Bible Seminars, and Leaders Conferences. He has written innumerable articles on biblical and Ignatian spirituality in various magazines worldwide, and published 12 books, several of which are translated also into Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Konkani. Dr. Renu Rita Silvano, OCV, STD

Dr. Renu Rita Silvano, OCV, STD was consecrated as a member of the Order of Consecrated Virgins (OCV) in 1992 by the Archbishop of Patna, and is now Coordinator of the Consecrated Virgins in Mumbai. She was awarded the Doctorate in Sacred Theology (STD) by the Pontifical University of St.Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome, in 1991. She has authored several books: Seeking Jesus in the OT (also published in the USA by Our Sunday Visitor); Mary Model for Disciples; Prayer for the Laity; Handbook for Core-teams of Catholic Charismatic Renewal; The Mother of Jesus. And co-authored with Dr.Fio Mascarenhas, SJ: Inspiring Teachings of Jesus Christ; The Holy Spirit; God’s Word Nourishes; St.Paul & the Good News; God’s word is Spirit and Life; The Story of Jesus Christ; Hail, Mary!  

She is the Editor of Bible Aglow magazine, and the author of many articles in Indian and foreign Journals (e.g., Word and Worship, NBCLC publications, The Examiner, Our Sunday Visitor, Charisindia, etc). Since 1997 she is the Director of the Catholic Bible Institute, Mumbai. She recently completed her 6-year term (2002-2008) on the Executive Committee of the worldwide Catholic Biblical Federation.

She was nominated by Pope Benedict XVI to attend the 2005 Synod of Bishops in Rome on The Eucharist in the life and mission of the Church as an “auditor.” She is a member of the Indian Theologians Association, and has taught Scripture in the Bombay Seminary for 2 years, and in several other institutions across the country. She has also been the Vice-Chairman of the National Service Team of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in India from 2000-2003.


Deacon Inacin Fernandes
Dcn Inacin Fernandes was commissioned as a Minister of the Word for the archdiocese of Bombay in 1990. In 1991 and 1999 he earned Diplomas in Catechetics and IMFE from the Archdiocesan Pastoral Institute, Mumbai, and in 2001 the Certificate in Pastoral Biblical Studies from Nemi. He has translated The Holy Spirit into Konkanni, and is responsible for all Konkanni programmes of our Institute. He is also full-time Treasurer and Administrator of our Catholic Bible Institute. He was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Bombay in 2015.
